All background information about the event and current news about the Allgäu Triathlon 2022 can be found here.

Where Does The Allgäu Triathlon Take Place?

As the name of the event already indicates, this triathlon takes place every year in the beautiful Allgäu region. More precisely, in the small village of Immenstadt in the Allgäu. Every year, numerous participants and visitors flock here. The event location in the Allgäu as one of the most important locations for events of this kind was originally created by German Altenried. The initiator ran a sports store in Immenstadt in the 1960s and was inspired by the great Ironman Hawaii Triathlon. As a result, German organized the first triathlon event in the small town in the Allgäu region in 1983. After that, the success story of the Allgäu Triathlon took its course.

Allgäu Triathlon News - Current Corona Situation

Due to the numerous challenges our world had to deal with last year, the annual Allgäu Triathlon 2020 was put on ice. Of course, the organizers did everything they could to bring the cult event back as soon as possible. Thanks to the current Corona situation, it was finally possible to hold the Allgäu Triathlon despite Corona 2021. Under the strictest hygiene measures, the event took place again and numerous athletes competed in the various disciplines as usual.

The year 2022 will again bring the latest news on the Corona situation, which we will of course keep you up to date on.

The Allgäu Triathlon is divided into three disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. Unlike the first Allgäu Triathlon in 1983, where the Allgäu Triathlon distances were divided into 1.5km (swimming), 112km (cycling) and 25km (running), the distances have been adapted over time to the altitude and distances to be covered during the Allgäu Triathlon. Nowadays there are three distances for athletes to master at the Allgäu Triathlon. Sprint, Olymp and Classic.

Starting at the big jetty of the Alpsee, the participants swim a loop of 0,5km towards the eastern shore. Afterwards the next phase starts - along the steep ramp at the Kalvarienberg via the village passages Eckarts and Niedersonthofen the participants cycle 26km over the Stixner Joch back to the Alpsee. A large running loop of 5km is contested by the participants along the Alpsee with a view of the Allgäu Alps. After mastering the last challenge, the Kuhsteig ramp, the athletes head towards the finish line at the Allgäu Triathlon Sprint course.

The Olympic distance of the Allgäu Triathlon in Immenstadt starts with a big loop counterclockwise. A total of 1.5km has to be covered on the swim distance, which, like the sprint distance, ends on the eastern shore of the Alpsee. After the roll-in kilometer, it goes just as with the sprint distance on the ramp at the Kalvarienberg over the local passages Eckarts and Niedersonthofen. On the 42km long bike course the way leads further 620m up to the Ettensberg. Out of the transition area the athletes have to master the last hurdle, the 10.5km long run course.

As the last of the three Allgäu Triathlon distances, the Allgäu Triathlon Classic course means mastering the most difficult distances.
The start of the 1,9km long swim distance is followed by a 42km long bike distance. Unlike the Olympic distance, the Classic distance leads twice over the big lap instead of once. Here, too, the participants cycle up the ramp of the Kalvarienberg and pass through the villages of Eckarts and Niedersonthofen. Whole 1220m it goes on this cycle distance of the Allgäu Triathlon in height. After completion of the bike distance, a 20km long run course follows, which ends with the run into the finish straight after the second passage.

Since autumn 2021 the registration for the Allgäu Triathlon 2022 is already running. Participants have the possibility to register for the cult event via the form on the official website of the Allgäu Triathlon.
