Maschsee Triathlon is set in Hannover, capital of Germany’s state Lower Saxony. The name-giving lake Maschsee is an artificial lake in an area that used to be like a swamp (in German: “Marsch”). Today, it is mainly used for recreational purposes or for events like the Maschsee Triathlon, sometimes also called Hannover triathlon.

Hannover triathlon: races and distances

Since it is set around Hannover’s popular lake, naturally, the swim leg of the different races takes place in the Maschsee itself, starting at the public bathing beach. The cycle as well as the run leg take the triathletes along the waterside of the Maschsee. Participants can choose from different kinds of races and distances. There is the smaller “Volkstriathlon”, the Olympic distances and also special races for the Bundesliga and German championship series. The distances vary, depending which race is chosen.
